The
Texas Christian University Wind Symphony has established itself
as one of the outstanding collegiate wind bands in America.
The Wind Symphony regularly performs the best in wind band literature,
from the Renaissance masters to the most recent prizewinning
composers. The group schedules frequent appearances by guest
composers, soloists, and conductors.
The Wind
Symphony, under the direction of Bobby Francis, has a distinguished
reputation for critically acclaimed performances and a dedication
to commissioning new and exciting works. The Wind Symphony frequently
hosts visiting composers in rehearsal and performance, which
provides interaction with the creative process that makes music
a living art form. The Wind Symphony was recently selected to
perform at the 2007 Texas Music Educators Association Convention
and also at the 2007 CBDNA Convention in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Graduates
of the Wind Symphony have gone on to hold positions in professional
symphony orchestras, military bands, and recording studios,
in addition to those serving as noted teachers and conductors.
