Admissions, Financial Aid, and Scholarships

Step One - Admissions

Complete and return Admissions applications as soon as possible. If information is not yet available (SAT or ACT scores, High School transcript, etc) go ahead and initiate the admissions procedures with all available information you can supply. Admissions applications must be received by the Admissions office prior to November 15 for a student to be notified by January 1, and by January 15 or not later than February 15 to be notified by April 1.

Step Two - Scholarship Audition

Set a scholarship audition and time. Wind and Percussion Instruments audition dates are in January for Nordan Fine Arts Scholarships (for Fine Arts majors ONLY). Everyone else can audition in the Spring. If you have written, telephoned, or returned an information card requesting a particular day, but no specific time, contact the TCU Bands office at (817) 257-7640 and schedule an audition time ASAP. You need to schedule an audition time at least ten (10) days prior to the date you have selected. If you would like us to provide an accompanist for your performance (although an accompanist is not required) please let us know at least ten (10) days in advance.

Step Three - Financial Aid

Complete and mail the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and any other materials required by the financial aid office as soon as possible after January 1. Parents are encouraged to make a special effort to file income tax returns as early as possible. Band Scholarships are awarded based on playing ability and needs of the program generally range from $1,500 - $8,000 per year. It is very important to have the FAFSA on file as early as possible to allow the financial aid office to put together a total financial package if a student qualifies for multiple awards and aid.
